SC Media volunteers to receive free swimming

Volunteers of SC Media, Splash Out Radio and Option One are to be offered free swimming in association with the Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust's 'Lifestyle membership scheme'. This latest initiative is set to be rolled out in December 2009, and will see all volunteers have access to free swimming at the following venues:
  • Ashton Leisure Centre (from March 2010)
  • Hindley Sports Centre
  • Howe Bridge Sports Centre
  • Leigh Indoor Sports Centre
  • Tyldesley Pool
  • Wigan international Pool (from September 2010)

SC Media focus group 'shake-up'

It has been decided by members of the current focus group that in order for Splash Out Radio and Option One to be successful under the SC Media brand, a separate focus group must be established to ensure the well being of the organisation.

This decision will see the current focus group system totally revised to provide a more robust and efficient governing body. A public Consultation will run until 10pm on Tuesday 10 October, of which your views can be emailed to consultation@splashoutradio.co.uk.

Splash Out Radio - Radio For The Workplace - Update

Splash Out Radio is pleased to announce the following regarding 'Radio For the Workplace' on the Wigan Pier multiplex.

  • Splash Out Radio will commence broadcast of Radio For the Workplace (Wigan Pier multiplex) on Friday 18 December 2009. The initial contract will last for 2 weeks and will form the basis of a test transmission with the potential for future use. The service will be relayed on 107.8 MHz on the FM band via a low-powered FM transmitter and will be specifically produced to provide a service which encourages work for staff of local businesses.

Option One team up with Friends of Reddish South Statiton

In February 2009 Option One went to visit 'Friends of Reddish South Station' and help with their campaign to reinstate regular train services to the highly populated Reddish South station. Option One conducted numerous interviews with members of the group and passengers who came along to travel on the special event folk train. These interviews have been produced to create a radio show which will be broadcast on Splash Out Radio shortly after its re-opening.

Option One follow Prince's Trust in the community

A new series of sweepers are to be produced to promote the work of the Prince's Trust. These sweepers will be recorded throughout October, and will follow the Wigan Prince's Trust team during their community work around the Wigan and Leigh areas.

Splash Out Radio to commence broadcasting for Wigan Pier Businesses

SC Media has today announced that it is to create a radio service known as 'Radio for the Workplace' under the 'Splash Out Radio' brand. The first confirmed stage will see a part-time radio service for businesses in and around Wigan Pier. In order to listen to the service, the property in which you are listening must hold a suitable PRS licence. 'Radio for the Workplace' will start in Mid November on 107.8 FM.
